Although my tutorials are slanted to the United States, bookkeeping is still bookkeeping
wherever you are located. We just have different currencies, the pound, yen, and so forth.
Can individuals from other countries benefit from my tutorials ? Sure you can ! Just mentally substitute
your currency symbol anywhere that I've used the US Dollar Sign ($). The only tutorial that
will probably only benefit US individuals is my payroll tutorial.
Dear Dave - (Oh Mighty, but Humble Tutor!).
Please allow us to express our abundant thanks for your tutorials.
My wife was so thrilled that she decided to change her notion that "nothing in life is free", all thanks to you.

Dave,
Your site is very creative and fun. I really enjoy visiting it.
Thank you for all of your hard work and creative energy you have put into
this site that you easily could charge for, but don’t.
Thank you, thank you, thank you,
Brandy Walsh
Dave,
I am really enjoying your website. It's just what I need and the tone and graphics are actually making it fun
to learn about bookkeeping!

Hi, Dave,
I teach accounting, geared towards training bookkeepers - not typically CPA’s in the making -
and came across your website while trying to update mine for tutorials for the students.
Because of the nature of my program, I rarely have tutors, nor do I have students who are willing
to spend time with me (or ask me for it) to help them. I think your site can really help those who are
“afraid” to ask for it, for the extra help they need in Small Business Acctg I & II, and even payroll!
Thanks again!

Dear Mr. Marshall,
I just found your bookkeeping tutorials and I wanted to tell you ...
I LOVE YOU! I've been doing bookkeeping for 15 years but I kind of
got into by accident (I have a degree in English and History for pity's
sake!) so while I kind of know what I'm doing, I don't really know how
to talk about what I'm doing. I work for a small non-profit society in
Vancouver, Canada and it is the first time I've had to deal with the
audit process and your tutorials have given me the confidence to
know how to talk to our accountant and know that I'm doing things
the right way.
We use Quickbooks Pro and I've just completed a course in that
and was dreading a bookkeeping course -- your tutorials allowed me
to fill in the gaps in my understanding without sitting through another
dry, dusty course.
Thank you so much for taking what must have been a great deal of
time to write these tutorials in a way that everyone can understand.
Wishing you and yours the best,
thanks again.
Yours,
Kerry Porth

Dave,
You were so helpful when I needed help (either last month or the month before).
Where do I send a check;? I want your website to always ‘be there.’

Dave,
I love your website. I have learning issues and this hit the nail on
the head. Thanks for your time in creating a funfilled learning
environment.

Dave,
Quite by accident, today I found your web site – and, just had to write and tell you it is totally delightful!
Years ago I taught Accounting at the college level, then spent about 10 years in a staff accounting position
at a university, and now I’m back in the college classroom. “First-thing” in my next Accounting Principles
I class this coming Friday, I’ll be giving them the URL for your website. I truly think your free tutorial
about the basics of bookkeeping (debits, credits, etc.) will be both entertaining and informative for them.
Thank-you for all your work and your sense of humor in presenting the information.
(You’d probably love my “bean-counter” Halloween costumer!)
I’m still “scratching my head” in terms of figuring out how you make any money from all of this.
But, I’m just glad you’re doing what you’re doing.
Thanks again!

Hey Dave,
I am Ashish from Singapore working as a junior IT consultant. I just graduated (UK) in July and joined this IT
consulting company. I have 2 master’s degrees but sadly both in IT fields. I found your tutorials very useful
I should say and your teaching style in particular was a very enjoyable experience. I loved the flash screen
about ‘flinging the teacher’, lol I got it right the first time! As an IT consultant dealing with implementation and
support of ERPs, I needed accounting knowledge and I found your web site that provided ‘free’ tutorials.
I just want to thank you for making this possible and hopefully when I start making serious money I will
definitely make a ‘sizable’ contribution to your site.
Cheers!
Ash
Dave,
I found you website and it's wonderful! I've been working for years setting up small business in
QuickBooks and was looking for a source of information written in plain English, and today found you.
Judy Kerr
Dear Sir,
Firstly please accept my heart felt thanks for your web site and its contents. Your website is extremely good.
After going through the tutorials, I feel you should advertise your self on the Yahoo front page. This will help children all over the world who find it difficult to attend tution classes in Book keeping and accountancy.
I very much appreciate your sincere hard work in reaching out to various masses of people and I strongly believe that you will accomplish your vision in meeting one's heart desire to learn accounting.
God bless you abundantly.
With profound regards,
Franklin Ross
Dave,
I just stumbled upon your website and immediately can tell I’ll be visiting it often.
I have a basic understanding of accounting, but your lessons will prove to be very valuable in a gaining comprehensive
detailed knowledge, and a great resource.
I’m so glad you put this information together
Renee Carey
Dave,
I have have been in contact with Phoenix Online and they charge $12,000 for a bachelor's degree and it takes 15 months. I bet, you could sell some sort of bookkeeping certificate for a lot less.
I'd be willing to pay!
Jennifer Sanchez
Mister Counter of Beans,
Thank you for the Introductory course on bookkeeping. I really needed it
to put my head on straight.
Also, chart of accounts was gratifying.
You need to know, I knew nothing about accounting and
bookkeeping. These tutorials did wipe away some of the mist.
Your two courses have been a great help.
You are a very good instructor - sez one who used to be one.

Hi Dave,
I am an Australian distance ed. University Student (Bachelor of Business – Human Resources). I have been close to tears on a number of occasions trying to apply information from my study guide and texts into the practical application of actually doing an assignment. In my desperation to understand what I was trying to do (i.e. my assignment) I came across your website. I can’t express strongly enough how helpful your tutorials are.
I consider myself a fairly intelligent person and have so far, done pretty well in my studies, but I was (and still am to a certain degree) stuck on this subject. Even though for a large part, your tutorials have followed along closely to what is in my study guide, the way you explain it along with the examples has made this subject much more understandable. I love the quiz’s they are an excellent gauge of how I am going understanding the subject and I guess you are never to old to ‘fling a teacher’.
So again, by ‘biggest’ and most sincere thanks for making these tutorials so accessible and easy even for us laymen to understand.
Kind regards,
Tamzin Davie

Dear Dave,
This is my first time logging on your Bean Counter's Accounting. It's very helpful.
It's not hard for me to find an Accounting textbook in Chinese.
The problem I faced was that I have to write emails regarding accouting in English to my supervisor. I was always afraid that the terms I used were not appropriate and my accounting English is not native, considering I did not major in Accounting. Thanks so much that your free course is helping solve this problem and meanwhile make me more confidence while communicate with professional accountants.
Thanks again for your knowledge and personal time contributed to this website.
Sincerely,
Swing Wang
Hello Dave,
I just wanted to send you a note of thanks. I have just started your beginner course in bookkeeping and it
makes actual sense to me. I’m only at the very beginning but you teach it in a way that I can understand. I needed
to take an accounting course, but the few that I looked at lost me in the beginning lessons. Your course seems
to just speak to me without making me feel stupid for not understanding all the terminology and rules.
I’m taking my time with it but I can tell anyone who asks me the definition of an asset, liability, owner’s
equity (capital), revenue or expense and draw. I practice on my way home in the car. I plan on making a donation
to your company as well. I hope that once I get through this course I can go on to your others for even more understanding.
Thank you again Dave for such a wonderful tool.
Renee
Bean Counter,
What a great site, with great information you have to offer. I've never been so excited about trying to learn some accounting on my own. I started college when I was 20, then for unforseen reasons, was forced to drop out after just one semester. Eight years later, its kind of scary thinking about walking back into a classroom, besides, my son will be doing the same thing soon!
Some nice refresher courses and updates are really nice to have. You offer some great software too. Other sites I've visited offer skimpy info and just want you to spend spend spend.
You've won me over, and your newsletter will be the first one that I have ever signed up for, since starting to use the internet in 1994!
Thanks for the site and the info, what a great help!
Leron
Dave,
I can't thank you enough for your excellent website. I applied for a Manager of Accounting position,
despite having not done acctg in over 15 years. The department invited me to take a test as part of the hiring process,
and I only had 2 day's notice! I searched online for accounting tests to study and
your website saved the day! It was a perfect study partner. I took the test today and everything
that was on the test was on your website. I don't know if I passed the test, but I definitely know that I would
have failed terribly had it not been for your site.
Frank
Dave,
Awesome! Exactly what I need!!!
You're truly the greatest!!!!!

Dave,
I just want to say I love your site the drawings/style and clarity of instruction!!!!!!

Hi there,
I've been trying to study for my management/accounting test, which is a
component in the electrical engineering degree I'm currently working
towards. I can't say how much your site has helped me out! Before
visiting, I was totally lost in financial terms and concepts, but thanks
to your site it's cleared up considerably! I particularly like the
little tests at the end of some sections; they're great.
Thanks again,
Brad Reeve
Dave,
Excellent site. Very clean, very useful. I learned more from your tutorial and quizzes than 2 other books combined.
It inspires me to develop a website of my own with genuinely free content to share with others.
I will be sure to bookmark and use your site's link in the future if the need arises.
Thanks again,

Dave,
I've been an administrative person for a small CPA firm for 6 years.
The other staff and partners have trained me here and there, so I have a
VERY basic understanding of accounting concepts. I started doing a
simple set of books for a dental practice and felt like I was just
following blindly. Not really understanding the process, just sort of
filling in the blanks. I can't believe how much you have cleared up by
connecting the pieces for me. For example, no one ever told me that a
debit doesn't always increase an accounts balance! I'm excited to get
my hands on the books again next month so I can apply my new
understanding of the process.
I especially appreciated your sense of humor and teaching style. I
just completed basic accounting and am excited to start the next
tutorial.
Thanks again,
Jenny
Dave,
Thank you so much for this site.
It has "updated" my bookkeeping mind (stagnant for 29 years !!)

Good afternoon
We are a small New Zealand company specializing in producing training materials and assessments for NZQA unit standards. We also train small business owners in the use of MYOB, which is a computer accounting package. However, we find that a large number of our clients have a very poor grasp of the concepts of accounting, and we are referring them to your website “So you want to learn Bookkeeping” so that they can learn the basics of bookkeeping prior to having us teach them to use MYOB.
We now find that students in training centres who are learning MYOB also require bookkeeping basics, but not all of them have access to the Internet.
We are wondering, therefore, if we could download the lessons in your program onto CD and give it to these students. Obviously we would not be selling the CD, and we would acknowledge that the program is your property – the CD label would indicate that you are the author of the program.
We have searched the Web for bookkeeping/accounting resources for these students, and find that your website has a fresh, enthusiastic approach which certainly encourages learning and is the best of its kind that we have come across. We have had very good feedback from all those who have been able to access it.
We look forward to your response.

Hi folks,
VERY cool tutorial. I teach a class at the USC and UC Berkeley law schools called Business For Lawyers. I would like to
reproduce your bookkeeping
tutorial to share with my students. May I have your permission to do so?
Thanks, Doug
Yep, Doug got my OK.
Dear David,
I’m only on lesson 2 of your bookkeeping tutorial but would
like to say Thank you!, Thank you!, Thank you!
I’ve recently started up my own IT firm, and will graduate in Computer Engineering from the
University of Cape Town in November. Although I’ve so far managed successfully
to get my head around digital electronics, neural networks, artificial
intelligence and the like, I still find bookkeeping incredibly intimidating!
Your tutorial is truly so well written that it actually makes
me interested to learn about more about something that up till now I could
only have compared with having a root canal (something that has to be done, but is never pleasurable!).
I’m also about to give OneStep accounting that you recommended a run.
Thanks again for a truly great web resource.

My name is Richard Lidbom and I am the instructor for business and technology at a private school in Winston-Salem, NC. The school has 212 students in the high school. I am retired from business American International Group (AIG) where I was a strategic planner. MBA from Wake Forest University (Executive Program).
I am deeply impressed with your So you want to learn Bookkeeping! - an excellent tutorial.
I am teaching a Principles of Business course this year as a math course
for those who have difficulty with high school math above Algebra II but need a
math course to graduate.
I would very much appreciate your allowing me to reproduce the aforementioned tutorial
in printed form for the 18 students in the class. We do not have enough computers
for everyone to do the tutorial online. I would restrict the number of copies, give
full credit to you and your firm, and include your copywrite on the cover page of the printout.
I can promise you that I am VERY sensitive to this matter and therefore am writing for your approval. I teach ethics in my technology classes and as a part of the curriculum I emphasize the need to not plagiarize intellectual property. Please carefully consider this request. Thanking you in advance for your help and timely response.

Hello,
Just wanted to say I like your bookkeeping tutorial and I have included a link
to it in my website:
Lazy8
Look in the upper right hand corner where it says "click here for a free
tutorial." I will also be including the link in my program under the help
menu. That program version will be released in about a month.
My site offers an open source free ledger program.
Since I am not making any money from it, all I
want is people to find the best software for their needs.
About 80 to 100 per day see my web page so you might see an increase in
traffic on your own web site hopefully...

Dear David
This message is to thank you for your online introduction to
bookkeeping.
As a startup business I found your service excellent, something you
can hardly find on books, which are very often either aimed at
wanna-be top managers or to people that must simply fill books as
they are told to do.
I had already some bookkeeping skills but your lessons made me feel
confident in what I'm doing and I can even feel comfortable when
talking to professionals!
I'm Italian and I have a small family business based in the United
Kingdom. However, should the business grow and become a major
multinational, needing help on the other side of the pond, I will not
forget your business.
Thank you again.
Yours sincerely

Hi,
I was looking for some basic accounting training to share with new staff members who have some OJT but no formal
accounting training. They don’t issue financial statements but they certainly affect the financials. They
need to understand how their daily work affects the financials. I don’t want to send them to Principles of
Accounting (too much) or Bookkeeping 101 (too little). Your “So, you want to learn Bookkeeping!” site offered both
bookkeeping and the basics of financial reporting in a simple and easy to understand format. I have marked your site
in my favorites and will refer back to it for future training needs.
Thank you!

Dear Mr Marshall, or Dave (if you don't mind me calling you that).
I just wanted to write to thank you for your wonderful Bean Counter Tutorials. I'm taking a correspondence course in
Bookkeeping and was having a really difficult time grasping some of the concepts because the course material was very vague
and confusing and calling the school to speak to a teacher didn't help any.
Then I found your website with your Bean Counter Tutorials and they really helped me alot. Its great
the way you combine humor with teaching. Thanks to your Bean Counter Tutorials I really was able
to obtain infomation better and a get a better grasp of the concepts.
Thanks again.
Sincerly yours

Hi, and thanks a billion for your site!
I took degrees in policy analysis, economics, and planning. I worked
managing millions of dollars of funds for many years. I made up my own
accounting systems to account for the receipt and expenditure of
government funds. I lost my job and am now going to work in ar/ap.
Coming from the management side I know very little about the actual
input! hahaha. Your site is a godsend. I will be working in an office
doing actual bookkeeping!
Actually, I am terrified. I assume that I will be inputting data via a
canned software program, which makes me feel okay, kind of. But I've
never really done anything but fund accounting. The accounting
department took care of receiveables and payables.
Well, I am reading your materials, and feel better now that I have a
tutor.
Thanks again.

I found your WEB site information very useful. I went through the tutorial
on Bookkeeping for a review. It had been too many years since college and I
needed a refresher.
Thank you very much.

Dear Mr. Counter,
I will soon be overseeing the accounts (possibly doing the setup and entry in Quickbooks myself) for a company I'm about to work for.
I have spent the entire Sunday today trying to grasp the seemingly contradictory concepts of double entry bookkeeping. In looking elsewhere I got short or confusing explanations, and was getting frustrated.
You take a reader down a path that explains things sufficiently (for me anyway) to actually get the concepts.
Thank you very much.

Hi,
I found the bookkeeping tutorial on your site very helpful. I work in
the tax division of a big accounting firm, and now I won't have
that "deer in the headlights" look when someone tries to discuss debits
and credits with me.
Thanks a lot!

Dear Dave:
I read your free online tutorial - "So, you want to learn
Bookkeeping!". This saved me a LOT of money, at least $500, I should admit.
I now know more than what I learned from my College/Accounting course, that I
took for my business. With what I learned in this tutorial, I am going to handle all the accounting for my business on my own.
Your course is wonderful Dave! Thank you.
Regards,

Dave,
I've been enjoying your bookkeeping tutorials very much and they are proving to be a lifesaver for me

Dave,
Thank you so much for your site- My husband and I started a company and through process of elimination- I'm the accountant.
Who had never(up to 2 weeks ago) kept even a personal ledger! So, with my expensive Peachtree program-I've been spending months
trying to learn both Peachtree and the basic accounting principles.
I stumbled on your site today and was blown away.
This is the most comprehensive FREE site I've ever seen. You've gotten me through Double Entry Accounting
and I'm on my way to preparing my my own Profit and Loss Statement.
Thank you!

Hi,
You don't know how long I have been searching for a website to

I must have put the right words in for my search and came across your
web site.
I am really impressed with the information contained on your site.
Thanks,
