Bean Counter's Free Accounting & Bookkeeping Tutorial Site

Free online accounting and bookkeeping help is on the way! Although my free interactive online bookkeeping and accounting tutorials and courses are slanted to the United States, bookkeeping and accounting are basically the same regardless of where you are located. We just have different currencies, the dollar, pound, yen, and so forth.

Who Can Benefit and Be Helped By These Interactive Online Accounting and Bookkeeping Tutorials ?

Can individuals from other countries benefit and be helped by my free online accounting tutorials ? Sure you can ! Just mentally substitute your currency symbol anywhere that I've used the US Dollar Sign ($).

The only accounting course that will probably only mainly benefit or help US individuals is my payroll tutorial. Still, everbody has to pay their employees and you can still find some useful help and information. The main difference would be in calculating state and federal tax deductions.

That being said, who can benefit and be helped by taking my accounting courses ?

How Much Do They Cost ?

My online interactive bookkeeping and accounting lessons, tests, and exercises are free and allow guest access (don't need to register or login to the site).

Free - Free - Free !!!!! On my site Free means Free. Unlike many other sites, you have full access to all my online bookkeeping course lessons and quizzes. Of course I'd be grateful for a donation or an ebook purchase to help support my site; but neither is required. That's a decision left strictly up to you.

Are They Any Good ?

Are the bookkeeping and accounting primers any good ? Of course I'm going to say yes cause I wrote them. Why not see what others have said about my tutorials.

What Others Think

Do I Have To Signup or Register ?

No, you don't have to become a free member (register) , but by doing so you can keep up with the courses that you have enrolled in and have them displayed when you log in to my site.

If you don't want to register, Guest Users are still welcome and can access all the courses.

How To Become a Free Member of my site:

To become a member, just click on the Login Link in the top upper right hand corner.

Enter your user name, password, email adress, etc.

Note: After you have become a member of my site and have your user name and password, you should always login to my tutorial site using your user name and password.

Of course as I mentioned earlier, you can also access all the accounting courses by logging in as a Guest.

Ebook Versions of Tutorials

The ebook versions of the free online bookkeeping courses provide you with the option of printing out a "hard copy" of the tutorial to use as an aid or reference while working thru the tutorial and also allows you to work thru the tutorial without having to be connected to the internet. Printing out a copy of the ebook also provides you with a handy accounting and bookkeeping reference book that you can refer to when needed.

A PDF Version of each of the tutorials is also provided in order to simplify printing out a "hard" copy of the tutorials.
Note: Adobe Free Reader or a compatible reader is needed to read and/or print the PDF Versions.

Optional - Bound Paperback Book Version(s) While not absolutely necessary, I've added the option of purchasing a bound paperback version of any or all of my six (6) accounting tutorials directly from my publishing site, Lulu. The bound paperback versions are printed and shipped directly from Lulu. Why this option ? As a convenience. While both the PDF and interactive ebook versions allow you to print my tutorials, printing out over 500 pages is not my idea of fun. Purchasing the bound paperback version(s) saves you time, paper, and ink.

Viewing or Taking The Accounting Courses

I promise to try not to bore you or put you to sleep. To view or take any of the accounting and bookkeeping courses just click on the name of the course in the Available Courses Listing. You can also select a course by using the Course Categories Menu in the upper right corner. Click on the category and then click on the course you want.

What Accounting and Bookkeeping Courses Should I Take and In What Order ? It depends. Boy, I copped out on that answer didn't I ? Well it really does, because to properly answer the question depends on what you already know about bookkeeping and accounting and why you need or want to take the tutorial(s).

Beginners

For true beginners (newbies) , you should begin with the the Introductory Bookkeeping Course - So, you want to learn Bookkeeping!. I also recommend that after completing the introductory bookkeeping lessons, that you add to and reinforce the accounting and bookkeeping knowledge that you've acquired by taking the - So, you want to learn Bookkeeping! - Chart Of Accounts and Special Journals tutorials. These three tutorials should provide you with a good basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting and the records used. If you're using bookkeeping or accounting software (which I hope most businesses are) , it will also enlighten you as to what is actually taking place behind the scenes when you are entering data.

The other three accounting courses, Inventory, Payroll, and Cash can be taken in any order that you want and depend on you. If you work with or need to know about inventories - take the Inventory Course. If you work with payroll or need to learn about the government's laws and regulations - take the Payroll Course. Lastly, I do recommend that everyone take the Cash Course since cash along with profits are major keys to the success or failure of a business. The Cash Course also provides you with a free Cash Forecasting Template.

Students

For those taking bookkeeping and accounting courses, select the tutorials that will provide you with a review of what you've studied in class.

Others

If you just need a bookkeeping or accounting refresher course, skim thru the Introductory and Special Journals Tutorials and select any of the other bookkeeping courses that you want or need to "bone up" on.
