Bookkeeping vs. Accounting
While people often use the terms interchangeably, they serve different functions.

Bookkeeping is the systematic recording, organizing, and tracking of a business's financial transactions—such as sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
Accounting is the higher-level analysis, interpretation of the bookeeping data, tax strategizing, and financial statement preparation performed by an accountant.
