Tab Categories

I've divided the Tabs into two categories business information tabs and transaction tabs.

Business Information Tabs

Business Information is the basic information (files) needed by a business using a manual or computerized bookkeeping system. A lot of time and effort is usually required setting up these files when starting a new business, transferring from a manual to a computerized bookkeeping system, or transferring from one computer system to another.

Once the hard part has been done (initial setup), these files only occasionally need to be updated if new records need to be added or information needs to be changed (edits).

Examples of these types of tabs include:
  • Chart Of Accounts
  • Bank Accounts
  • Customers
  • Suppliers
  • Employees
  • Inventory Items
  • Non-Inventory Items
  • Fixed Assets/Depreciation Schedule
  • Loans
  • Taxes & Rates
Transaction Tabs

A transaction is a business event that has a monetary impact on an entity's financial statements, and is recorded as an entry in its accounting records. Examples of transactions are as follows:
  • Credit or cash sales to customers.
  • Credit or cash purchases from suppliers.
  • Receipt of cash from customers through invoices.
  • Repaying suppliers through received invoices.
  • Receiving funds from shareholders and other investors.
  • Purchasing or acquiring fixed assets.
  • Investing in other companies or obtaining intangible assets.
  • Borrowing funds from a lender or creditor.
  • Paying off borrowed funds to lenders.
  • Producing inventory through raw materials and incurring conversion costs.

Transaction Tabs record and process business transactions such as sales and purchases.

Examples of these types of tabs include:
  • Receipts
  • Payments
  • Sales Invoices
  • Purchase Invoices
  • Journal Entries
